It may be that the pair were young cats just passing thru. Mountain lions can have territories of ten square miles. They are usually solitary, so seeing two might mean they are siblings just out on their own, or a female with a older cub. We have so many deer, the hunting for them is good. (Picture is from the web)
For the last few days I have seen the doe quite close to the house. Tuesday she was lying down under a bush and one of the fawns was nearby. I looked and looked for the other and was worried that perhaps it had been taken by a lion. But then it came out from behind a bush and I knew my little family was safe.
I stay close as well, but just last week I took a solitary walk down into the forest to check for any new dead fall for possible fire wood harvest. I do know what to do if I see a big kitty. But I would rather not.
Today I spent the morning cleaning my studio room. It has been awhile since I have had any work. I guess it's the economy.
I did paint a little this afternoon. I was supposed to be cleaning, but I got bored! I hate housework. If we never had company I would probably never clean!
Daily countdown:
466 days, or 1 year, 3 months, 8 days to go.
Exercise Goal:
1000 miles on the treadmill, 2 miles today.
1000 miles on the treadmill, 2 miles today.
Total walked = 179 miles
Someday I will be hiking 1000 miles in National Parks!
I hope your doe and fawns will be safe. If they stay close to your house, maybe they will be okay.
ReplyDeleteWell, Merikay, you have certainly started the ball rolling about word verification out here in blogland! I may try looking into it later today, but sometimes I have problems digging around in blogger. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha!! Merikay! We're just alike :) When I lived in a sticks and bricks, nothing would light a fire under my butt to clean like having company over! Other than that, I hated every push of the broom and swipe of the rag. Living in an RV is GREAT! It takes less than 15 minutes to make it look shiny and clean :)

Cleaning is something I never enjoyed either. That is one thing I love about the motorhome....you can clean it in less than 30 minutes.
ReplyDeleteHaving mountain lions in the area is a little scary...you be careful.

15 to 30 minutes is about my cleaning attention span. I do wok longer, but my mind drifts to other things and so soon so do my hands. I know I'll have to give up the dishwasher, but somehow that doesn't seem so bad.
ReplyDeleteMerikay, Just to let you know...the comments do show up at the bottom of your posts. I guess it's just a Blogger quirk that the original poster can't see them. Everyone else can. :(
ReplyDeleteHi Merikay!! I'm going to turn off word verification now. I have it on because everyone else did. I'll let you know how it goes. Here's to lists! I like checking stuff off instead of erasing. Something satisfying about the checked off list.
ReplyDeleteIf the mountain lion is spotted, doesn't that make it a mountain leopard?
