As work goes on and new projects are considered, I feel as if there is no end in sight.
I have set a deadline.
August 1, 2013.
The house WILL BE ON THE MARKET.
No one can predict when it will sell, but in my heart, if there is still work to be done, it will be done while the house is for sale, or not done at all!
Craig says we can do it.
If it is not on the market by then ...
I will ...
I will ...
Stomp my feet and cry.
Always good to have a goal to work towards.
ReplyDeleteI understand that you have set a date, but have you considered listing earlier? Then families....with children can be in before school starts! Just a thought
ReplyDeleteJohn and Nan make a good point. Set your date for the end of June ?
ReplyDeleteBTW - I will stomp MY feet along with you.
I think setting a deadline is a good idea. When I told everyone that I was leaving in November 2011 before the first snow, they would ask what I would do if my house did not sell and my answer was always "It will sell so I'm not making other plans" and it did sell.
ReplyDeleteGiving yourself a deadline is a good idea. Makes it even more real doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteBoy, I'd go ahead and put it on the market in the spring. You will always be finding something that needs to be done. Let the next owners do it! Time to follow your dreams and hit the road...Look at all the things that are happening to fellow bloggers that are causing radical changes of plans. Don't wait...Life's too short..
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!!
ReplyDeleteI just sold my car (a PT Cruiser convertible, which I LOVED) today, in preparation to go fulltiming in the next 2 months. Our departure date is slipping a little forward, from November 30 to now, perhaps, December 15....
But hey, if you don't set a date you can't plan! Right!?!?!
May both our hopeful departure dates be reality soon.

ReplyDeleteI'm with everybody else. Put it on the market earlier. There will always be something else that you can find that you think needs to be done. But it really doesn't need to be done before it goes on the market. Do only what you have to to get it sold.
ReplyDeleteat least you have a deadline now! Enjoy the projects that need to be done but be sure to take some time for yourselves!
ReplyDeleteWow--Good Luck!!!
ReplyDeleteWow...that's really not that far away is it????
ReplyDeleteWe had a goal of Labor Day 2010 to have everything done and for the house to be listed.
The house got listed on time, but we still had lots to do. We knew we wouldn't be flooded with prospects due to the remote area and small town we lived in, so we just kept working. We had our first showing a few weeks later.
We ended up heading to Florida for the winter and didn't return until we had a signed contract.
Waiting for a sale is a lot less painless if you're gone! The house stays much cleaner when you're gone too!
well, I would hate to see you cry so get 'er done...
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
ReplyDeleteMoving forward is great! From the pics you have shown in your blogs, I think you could put your home up for sale anytime. Like a lot of the others say, you can work on the necessary things while it is for sale. Don't do more than you have to.
ReplyDeleteYou're so funny! But I agree with your plan. If you have a date, you have a date, and that's that. If the house isn't done, it will sell anyway. And the buyers will be lucky to have a house with all the work you've done. :)
ReplyDeletePS - I agree with the June date, though, maybe even May. People with families might be looking then, and that would really expand your market.
And you would still be working on it until it closes, probably at least through August. Then you'd have better weather to start out full-timing. :)
VERY exciting to have a time frame in mind! Makes everything more "real!" I'm excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful we don't have to put the house on the market. With Dan and Hannah living here that makes one less thing I have to worry about.
ReplyDeleteThanks for advice on packing. I have some things in boxes already for the girls to go through and pick out what they want. At least we are going through this together :))
