ADVICE Needed

I know several of the people who read my blog have taken trips to the Glacier National Park area, and I guess I'm too lazy to try to search out your posts.

So .. I'm asking.

If you went to Glacier, where did you stay? Although we prefer hookups, we can dry camp.  If you wrote posts about your trip, can you give me the URLs?

Thanks so much in advance.

We are planning on going up there at the end of August, and realize it is probably time to look into making reservations.

  1. We always stay at Rocky Mountain Hi campground in Kalispell and really like the open area rather than the sites in the trees.

  2. We stayed at the KOA near the west entrance. Can't think of the name--it was nice, and an excellent location, but was pricy. Also stayed at St. Mary's KOA on the east side. The no-hookup parks inside the park were nice but don't know if your rig would fit.

  4. We stayed at Johnson's in St. Mary. Convenient to go to Canada side of Glacier from there.

  5. There are several parks with utilities in the town of Hungry Horse outside the west end. HH has a small grocery store and a few eateries, none too spectacular. You will not want to take your motorhome on the Going to the Sun road! We always recommend to anyone that they go to the little town of Polebridge and on to Bowman Lake if you can stand it. I recommend a sports bra, which tells much about the road! We haven't ever stayed at the east end, but the scenery over that way is just as spectacular. If you see any side roads check them out with your jeep! I hope there's enough snow for you to see some waterfalls in August. In 2013 we were there about that time and didn't see one! But had seen many in prior visits. Keep having fun!

    1. Have to be sure Merikay is equipped properly, so we can take the Jeep on the GttS road :-)

    2. Just to clarify, it's the road to Polebridge and Bowman Lake that necessitates such a garment! lol

  9. we stayed in nearby Kalispel and Columbia Falls both are short drives to the park... I actually preferred the Kalispel park we stayed at even though it is next to an assisted living place... large lots and quiet... check out our blog form this past summer... enjoy the mountains we loved it there!
